# Writing and publishing

Press **New post** and start typing. A draft saves itself as you write, and every version is kept: the history in the editor's header shows them all, and any one can be restored.

## More than text

A post holds pictures, videos from YouTube, Vimeo or a file, and callouts, from the row of icons on an empty line. It can also wear a feature image, like the one above, with alt text and a caption.

## Publish now or later

Publish puts a post on the site at once, or at the time you choose. The post's settings hold the rest: its address, tags, the excerpt, and what search engines and social sites show.

## In more than one language

Add languages in Settings › General, then translate a post from its settings. Each translation has its own address under its language.

## Easy to find

Every post also has a plain Markdown copy at its address with **.md** on the end, and the site keeps RSS and JSON feeds, a sitemap and an llms.txt up to date, so readers, search engines and AI tools can all find your work.
